I am in the fabulous pages of this new book! And all about my first play (no I am NOT naked in this photo, actually - almost)!!! Check out our awesome review from the SF Bay Times here!!! Starring: Stanley Frank, Ste Fishell, Josh Thake, Chad Benjamin Potter, Audra Wolfmann and me + super special suprise guests! Directed by Ben Randle! Hold Me Closer, Tiny Dionysus is my first play, and it is a greek comedy rock epic wherein a Chorus attempt to cure The Great Recession by calling the diety Tiny Dionysus to answer all their questions and provide them with what they need to survive and thrive. But the one they seek answers from has a different idea of how to cure depression, taking them on a journey through evocative musical numbers as well as a series of odd jobs, igniting a conflict over ego, control, and what it means to be "successful" as a human, or as an idol...A hint of the Bacchae meets some Trannyshack meets some Nietzsche meets some serious trixxie...and more! Ben Randle will be directing this dream come true, and his passion for the art as well as mine and our whole cast and crew's will make this the best ever - yay!!! And this just in - expect our guest stars to amaze you - they are all booked, they are all fierce and they are all going to blow you away!!! Add to that puppetry, muppetry and musical mayhem - it's a blast from the future as well as the past!!! A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who made it to our benefit and to the play itself - your support means so much and it wouldn't have been possible to do this play without all the help we received - THANK YOU ALL!!! What? You wanna know MORE? Well, here's something you may not know - Ben Randle, Stanley Frank and I all went to SF State to study theatre and worked in the Brown Bag Company together when I was just beginning my career as a faux queen! After years of drag performances being our only chances to share the stage, and years of writing and TALKING about this little play and how we needed to do some hybrid of drag and theatre, we are making it a reality! In the true spirit of this Recession we are experiencing, the plot centers around a broke Chorus, who know they can call upon the religions and deities of their past for assistance, but are really looking for a quick fix, and not the challenge of creating new paths for themselves in a more philisophical sense...but Tiny Diny has no easy answers - she's a diety without employment as well!!! RECENT HERSTORY...in the fabulous world of Drag Theatre - funny how I get to play all the female leads in dragsicals!!!
